As the 2025 season approaches, we’ve just received this update (including latest spring availability) from our friends on the ground at Nicholas Dean Outfitters.
It’s just about that time – when the buds first appear on the trees, the staccato drumming of the ruffed grouse punctuates the landscape, and the sweet smells of the waking forest canopy invade your senses. It’s a magical time of year, simply put, and it also means steelhead time! If you’re a spey angler, there are few things as enjoyable as airing out your first casts on the water in the early spring, after a long winter season…
With our 2025 season rapidly approaching, we are so excited to be back at it again and welcoming our amazing guests. The 2024 season saw some of the best steelhead returns in the past ten years, and this translated into some very good fishing. With strong early season fishing to date this year, we have good reason to think that it’s going to be another exceptional season.

In late March through early May, the focus is on spring steelhead – some of the largest of the year – which are available in an incredible variety of unique rivers. Then, it’s on to the fly friendly runs of the Kitimat river for smash and grab chinook in June and July. Afterwards, it’s the white chrome, sea-liced summer steelhead and salmon season on mother Skeena, followed by our ever popular fall steelhead & trophy coho programmes in September and October. There truly are so many amazing fisheries here that we can showcase to visiting anglers.
