We have had a last minute deposited cancellation for two rods for a two week combination trip of a lifetime of Jurrasic Lake rainbow fishing from Estancia Laguna Verde and then a prime week sea trout fishing at Estancia Maria Behety La Villa on Rio Grande from 26 February to 12 March 2022. For trout anglers who are looking for monster fish, the is no place like Estancia Laguna Verde. Estancia Laguna Verde gives access to Lago Strobel, otherwise known as Jurassic Lake. The lake holds some of the worlds largest wild rainbow trout that have grown fat and strong on a diet of freshwater shrimp. These giant rainbows feed hard and can be sight fished to on floating lines using everything from streamers and nymphs, skating big foam flies and mouse patterns.

In terms of sea trout, no other river compares or can compete with the Rio Grande in Argentina. The run is estimated at between 50,000 – 85,000 per year, carrying an average weight of 9 lbs. 1 in 5 fish is over 15 lbs, 1 in 50 is between 20 – 25 lbs and most seasons a fish of over 30 lbs is recorded. We have just had two rods cancelled in a fantastic week of 5 – 12 March 2022 at the exclusive Estancia Maria Behety La Villa Lodge. Taking only six rods a week on a single room basis La Villa is considered the Creme de la Creme of Rio Grande fishing. Anglers at Villa Maria Behety rotate through the premier pools of the lower beats of the river, which have historically been the most prolific. These are all found within the massive border of the estancia just a stone’s throw away from the lodge.
