Alphonse Fishing Report 14th – 21st March 2020
Unfortunately, the Alphonse Island season was ended a couple of weeks early due to the current Covid-19 outbreak. Despite this, were able to land some fantastic catches. The weather was excellent, with good light and a gentle northwesterly wind blowing. Neaps tides were present throughout much of the week.
The bonefishing was excellent as usual, with the group landing 307 fish between them. The largest of the week measured a massive 68 cm, a true trophy specimen.
Peter Ross started the week well, landing a massive 50 cm yellowmargin triggerfish. Not far behind, Mark Hannah landed his first moustache trigger also on the first day.
Chantal Chone the legendary Alphonse angler landed another large yellowmargin trigger a few days later. Day four proved the best of the week with Nick Lloyd striking gold with a 40 cm permit and Peter landed the biggest GT of the season, a huge 127 cm fish.
