The Nubian flats of Sudan offer, without a shadow of a doubt, some of the world’s most adventurous and diverse saltwater fishing. We are delighted to announce that following a two year closure, the fishery will re-open in May 2025.

It’s an extraordinary destination, offering an unparalleled experience of unspoiled marine wilderness, stunning landscape and remote beauty. Together they combine to produce an almost otherworldly environment. Whether stalking the flats for triggerfish or hunting the edges for GTs or bluefin trevally, Sudan deserves to be on every flats fisherman’s bucket list.

There are just three spots available as the Nubian flats re-open in May 2025, on a trip which will offer an incredibly rare opportunity to explore a pristine saltwater system which has been untouched by humans for over two years.

Sudan is at the very top of the flats list for those in pursuit of triggerfish. Both yellowmargin and titan (moustache) triggers occupy these flats in numbers. While they are by no means, easy targets, the number of fish exceeds anything you will see on the Seychelles atolls. In addition to the triggerfish, there’s the chance of some giant and bluefin trevally, both on the flats and the edges.  It is by no means a GT focused destination and any Sudan bound angler should consider them a bonus. When spotted, they provide high paced, very visual and exciting fishing.

Anglers stay on a liveaboard boat during their stay, with tender boats used to transport fishermen from the mothership to the flats where 90% of the fishing is wading.
