There is still some fantastic value for money prime-time salmon fishing to be had for the 2015 season in Russia. Here we bring to you three different rivers to consider, each with their own individual attracting features. Tired of fruitless trips in the UK in supposedly prime-time? Then these may well be what you are looking for and will probably end up costing you less than your UK trip when the accommodation and meals are taken into account.
Grand (Upper) Varzuga
One of the great salmon rivers of the Kola Peninsula and one that needs little introduction. If you want good numbers but not necessarily the larger specimens then this is the one for you. The Grand Varzuga fishes well from around the end of May until the end of June with the cost of a week being just €3,950, which works out at around £3,300. This is for a full 6 days fishing and full board at the lodge with single rooms as standard.
Varzina; Main Lodge
One of the best big fish rivers on the Kola Peninsula. Fancy the propect of less fish but the opportunity of a fish of a lifetime where several 30 lbs + salmon are caught each season? Then this is the one for you. Best of all we have a special offer for the 13-20th June week for just £3,950 instead of £5,600! This is one of the best weeks of the season and should not be missed.
Umba
If you’re looking to target some cracking autumn salmon then this is the one for you. You are essentially targeting the osenka salmon, that overwinter in the river and spawn the following autumn/winter. As such, they are massively powerful and really test the angler’s ability. Again, not a river or time to go for huge numbers, but certainly one for good sport and impressive fish once hooked. Best of all the prime September weeks are just €3,850, which is around £3,200. Also, this programme does not include helicopter transfers, which may appeal to some.
