Fishing for the world’s largest trout in Mongolia has been capturing the attention of adventurous anglers for nearly 30 years and we’ve just a few last spots in 2025. Every year anglers from around the world make the journey to Mongolia in hopes of encountering the fish of a lifetime. What they find, in addition to superb taimen fishing, is a country that is home to some of the world’s kindest most hospitable people, living their lives in a way that would make any of us pine for the days of old. Change has of course come to Mongolia, but herders still move their livestock several times a year, camels still roam the steppes in search of green grass, and taimen still lurk in pools waiting for an unlucky squirrel to fall into the river.
