Not your typical all-inclusive

Thatch Cay Resort sits on its own private island off the coast of Dangriga in south-central Belize. Accommodating just 30 guests, it enjoys a peaceful atmosphere amid lush foliage and pristine beaches. While it’s a great place to relax and re-charge, anglers can get their fishing fix with packages arranged through nearby Blue Horizon Lodge. Thatch Caye is a great option for couples or families looking for a resort style stay and the ability to split a little time fishing amongst other on-the-water activities.

Superb fly fishing

Fly fishing from Thatch Caye Resort is perfect for both experienced anglers and first-time fishers. Among species to target alongside some of the most experienced guides in southern Belize are permit, bonefish and tarpon. Further information on the fishing can be found on our Blue Horizon page.

Blissful tropical living

The caye itself is around one mile long and this all-inclusive resort style lodge offers wonderful accommodation ranging from over water bungalows to beach front cabanas. Each room is a true oasis with a private outdoor space and no ‘real world’ distractions. You won’t find phone, TV, or WiFi in your room, all are available at the Coco Lounge, but you will find everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Along with fly fishing, guests can enjoy kayaking, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling and scuba diving. Local chefs conjure up a variety of Belizean and international dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients and dining tends to be communal with all guests eating together.

Undiscovered paradise

Thatch Caye is part of a natural island complex that forms a 12 acre marine park in the Cocoplum chain just nine miles from Dangriga in south-central Belize and only two miles from the second largest reef in the western world. Thatch Caye Resort is inside the northern boundary of the marine reserve. Dangriga is 55 miles from Belize’s capital, Belmpoan, and 105 miles from Belize City. Guests can either take two hour drive from the international airport in Belize City to Dangriga or a 15 minute commuter flight to Dangriga airstrip. From here it’s a short drive to the dock for the boat pick up and the onward 25 minute ride to the resort.
