Arabian Fly Sport Fishing, Oman
The place to target permit in southern Oman
After an extensive period of exploration the Arabian Fly Sport Fishing team settled in Salalah in southern Oman to offer world class guided and tailor made saltwater fly fishing trips. Whether you are walking the beaches, drifting the sand flats, exploring secluded bays or teasing large pelagic fish along the drop off, Oman has a multitude of species to target. In this rugged landscape travelling anglers will discover comfortable accommodation and a rich and diverse fly fishery.
Huge species variety on different methods
Oman’s diverse waters offer anglers a wide variety of fishing with inshore and offshore boat fishing and wading on shallow beach flats all available in one location. There are no long journeys each day as the drop off and inshore fishing is just a few minutes from the dock, allowing you to maximise your time on the water.
In the morning you can target tailing T.africanus (permit), Omani bream, milkfish, queenfish, bluefish, pompano and multiple trevally species whilst drifting along the vast cliff faces or exploring the shallow beaches and secluded bays.
Then spend the afternoon relaxing while you troll for billfish and dorado along the drop off, or get the blood pumping as you cast to large busting bait balls of tuna.
The land based fishing is not for the faint hearted and often requires a hike to remote beaches. Once there be prepared to run up and down the beach chasing the elusive Indo-Pacific permit as they tail in the shallows or cast to large spot pompano and bluefish.
At certain times of the season you might encounter the odd GT cruising the shoreline in search of a tasty snack.
Selecting the right tides and time of year is vitally important for those looking to focus on the shallow water fishing.
For those who like to spend more time searching for bigger ocean fish, a 30ft offshore boat is available. Fully kitted with all the latest equipment; twin 200 four stroke Yamaha engines, Furuno electronics and radar to get you straight to the action quickly and in comfort. There’s a full range of top of the line Penn conventional and spinning gear as well as an extensive array of teasers and lures. Anglers and guides will be fully prepared for any species encountered along the drop off.
Anglers fly fishing for pelagic species will find a full range of Hardy rods and reels to target the chosen quarry. Teasing pelagics is one of team’s specialties and there is nothing like seeing the bill of a lit up sailfish, marlin or a neon green dorado inhale a fly just feet from the boat.
From mid-February to May schools of yellowfin tuna arrive offering fantastic surface fishing. Casting poppers or stickbaits to busting fish up to 80kg will certainly test your strength and stamina.
Pelagic species include: dorado, sailfish, marlin (black, blue and striped), and yellowfin tuna.
