Long Caye Outpost
Perfect choice for small groups
Long Caye Outpost, owned and run by the same operators as Belize River Lodge, sits on a small island in front of Long Caye and overlooks Belize’s barrier reef. Long Caye is one of country’s best fishing areas with a wide variety of species available. Anglers will find tarpon, snook, bonefish and permit all within five minutes of the lodge.
Super fishing straight from the lodge
Long Cay Outpost lodge is about 14 miles from the main lodge and the fish species are much the same. It is in situation that the two differ. Whereas Belize River Lodge enjoys a jungle setting, the Outpost overlooks the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea. On calm days, the nearest bonefish flat is right in front of the guest house and it’s a great spot to stalk both bonefish and permit. Tarpon, snook, permit and bonefish are found all around Long Caye and the surrounding cays and flats. The Long Caye channel, directly behind the Outpost Lodge, is known for large tarpon. On windy days, the guides fish the back side of the island, the surrounding island and inner caye lagoons. The fishing guides at Long Caye Outpost Lodge are all local, they know the waters well are and experienced saltwater operators.
The fishing is from comfortable panga style skiffs, usually two anglers to a skiff.
Idyllic private setting
Long Caye Outpost accommodates six guests in three double occupancy bedrooms, two twin beds in each and a shared bathroom for all. The main building has a full verandah overlooking the beach and sea. The rooms have ceiling fans and power is provided via a generator. The same wonderful cooks at Belize River Lodge provide delicious meals for guests here.
There is plenty for the non-angler to enjoy including birding and snorkelling.
Easy access
The lodge is around an hour by boat from Belize City.
