Kamalame Cay, Andros Island, Bahamas
Beautiful private cay with superior accommodation
Kamalame Cay is a beautiful 96-acre private cay off the northeast coast of Andros Island and offers laid back chic in a glorious Caribbean setting. It is the perfect island escape for those seeking superior accommodation, gourmet cuisine, miles of white-sand beach, great bonefish flats and offshore fishing.
Andros Island offers world-class bonefishing
Andros Island is home to world-class bonefishing and Kamalame Cay is fortunate to be able to offer two distinct fisheries. There is abundant water with excellent bonefishing right on the backside of the cay as well as in the nearby creeks and flats stretching all the way to Majestic Point. Andros is renowned for having some of the largest bonefish in the Bahamas. Fish averaging a solid four pounds to many in the nine pound plus range are encountered while even larger bones work the edges of the flats.
Kamalame Cay’s seasoned guides, using Maverick flats skiffs with poling platforms, will meet anglers each day either at the cay to fish the local waters or at the north end of Andros to fish The Joulters. Full or half-day guided trips are available (full-day only for The Joulters). Both experienced and novice fishermen are encouraged to enjoy the expansive flats and the challenge of stalking the elusive bonefish.
If you favour a more relaxed pace or if you just cannot stop fishing at the end of the day, wander on your own and wade Davis Creek’s sweeping flat just a short distance from the backdoor of your villa.
Luxury, private and superior accommodation
Kamalame Cay is a ‘barefoot chic’ Caribbean retreat featuring 22 utterly private luxurious seaside rooms and suites in a range of charming, bougainvillea-draped cottages and bungalows, peak roof Balinese beach houses and classic Plantation style villas. A white sand path off the garden terrace, leads to a heated, fresh water pool as well as the Tiki Bar with an open grill that regularly hosts torch-lit, Bahamian beachside banquets enlivened by local bands.
As well as bonefishing, Kamalame Cay offers a variety of activities for guests to enjoy. There is the amazing beach, freshwater swimming pool, a tennis court and sea kayaks.
