East End lodge

Top notch bonefishing

The fishery surrounding East End Lodge boasts some of the most productive bonefish flats in the world.  Experienced guides and comfortable accommodation ensure anglers will feel right at home.

Fabulous bonefishing with a good chance of a trophy fish

The cool deep waters that surround Grand Bahama mean that visitors to East End Lodge will find bigger bonefish here than those cruising the Caribbean or Atlantic. The average fish tends to be between five and six pounds while 10lb plus fish are seen on a daily basis. The flats are close to the lodge so anglers can spend plenty of time fishing rather than running out to the fishery. There are five large channels that run northeast to southwest on the island’s eastern horn. This supplies plenty of wind protection and also allows the guides to fish the best tides throughout the day. The fish respond positively, and aggressively, to well-placed flies from a boat. When wading on skinny waters anglers do best with longer leaders and delicate presentations.

There are permit here too and these tend to range from 15 to 25lb, although in favourable conditions there’s a chance of a fish weighing 30lb or more. Other species in the East End area include barracuda, snapper and jacks.

The guide team at East End Lodge use 16-foot Dolphin Super Skiffs with 85HP Yamaha outboard motors.  These include cushioned seats and a stable casting platform.

Although there is a strong fishing focus at the lodge, non-anglers can be accommodated too. Activities include kayaking, snorkelling, birdwatching and island tours.

Comfortable accommodation within easy reach of the fishery

East End Lodge comprises three buildings in which there are six single rooms and four double rooms.  Each en-suite room is well designed and fully furnished. The cottages have large decks with views of the coral courtyard and fire pit. There is a modest sitting area, air conditioning, dining and bar area in the main lodge.

Anglers start the day with a full breakfast served in the main dining room. Packed lunches are taken on the water. Dinner features flavoursome dishes prepared Bahamian-style, with plenty of fresh conch which is the local speciality.

Easy access to great bonefishing

East End Lodge is a three acre property a 45 minute car ride from Freeport (Grand Bahama International Airport). The lodge provides a shuttle service to and from the airport. Several major US airlines service Freeport on a daily basis.
