Urban fly fishing at its best
There is some truly amazing fly fishing right in the middle of all the luxury offered by Dubai’s booming hospitality industry.
Incredible fishing for large queenfish, golden trevally, cobia and more
The Arabian Gulf is a shallow body of water home to abundant marine life, from tiny baitfish to big game species. There are surprising numbers of fish in the middle of Dubai and the creation of huge man made reefs at the Palm and World Islands have created ideal habitats for small juvenile fish which attract the bigger game fish and in turn attracts us as fisherman.
The main target species are the ever present queenfish which are truly a perfect fly fishing and light tackle fish. They are big, aggressive and jump once hooked, making for an amazing visual spectacle from the moment they take to the minute they are landed. Among other species to target are golden trevally, yellowdot trevally, orange spot trevally, barracuda cobia, and king fish.
Fishing off Dubai is unique and we refer to it as urban fishing as you are at times fishing in front of the 7 Star Burj Al Arab Hotel, Atlantis Hotel or the 200 skyscrapers in the Dubai Marina. Our trips are easy, and usually comprise half a day in the morning or afternoon leaving enough time to explore the many sights of Dubai.
Our operators run three boats which are set up for fly fishing. They are all custom built centre console ranging from 27ft-34ft. The boats are powered by Mercury or Yamaha engines with cruising speeds of 30-40 knots. They are all fully rigged with Garmin electronics, safety gear, Yeti Coolers, and all that’s required for a comfortable day out on the water.
Boats are moored in Jumeirah 2 Fishing Village 1 near the Four Seasons.
