The fishing in Cuna has continued to improve since guests started arriving in March. First hand positive feedback is a testament to the hard work we have put in to ensure that trips can operate this season. Guests that have been able to travel have enjoyed some excellent fishing.
The migratory tarpon have now arrived in full force, and anglers have been making the most of this fantastic opportunity to catch giant fish. We are also seeing excellent fishing for other species as there has been minimal pressure on the flats over the past year. Despite the flats seeing very few rods in 2020, all of the marine parks remained protected to ensure they were kept in their pristine state. The fishing so far this season has been hugely encouraging and the prospects for the coming months look very positive.
Avalon’s destinations and liveaboard yacht programs have received the highest level of certification from the Cuban authorities to operate during the ongoing pandemic. This is to ensure that each of our clients are safe and feel as comfortable as possible.
Cuba is one of the few saltwater destinations that we can fly direct from the UK. Although international travel is limited, it seems that Cuba will be one of the first saltwater destinations that British anglers can travel to.
