Christmas Island Lodge in the Republic of Kiribati offers some of the world’s most exciting saltwater fly fishing. Along with its famous bonefish, anglers will find giant trevally, bluefin trevally, triggerfish, milkfish and endless species of reef fish on this pristine atoll. Ahead of the 2024 season the lodge has announced news of exciting updates to both its accommodation and pricing.
On the accommodation front, guests will be able to enjoy the new Bluefin Bungalow, the lodge’s fifth two-suite option. Like the other beachside bungalows including Triggerfish, Milkfish, Bonefish and the Geet Suite, Bluefin is equipped with new A/C units, fans, refrigerators, armoires, desks, chairs, gear tables, new tile bathrooms, sinks, toilets, bedside tables, mats and an outdoor flower garden to make for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay during your angling adventure. The soothing sounds of waves washing up on the beach only steps away will make for a restful night’s sleep before your full day of multi-species angling action.
Construction is also underway on the new maneaba (communal gathering space) which will replace the lounge as a dining area, cocktail hour meeting place and overall beachside hangout at CIL. The new bluetooth stereo system will set a relaxed mood for sharing stories after the fishing day is complete. Picture waves rolling in only a few yards away with reggae plays softly in the background as guests enjoy cocktails in the pink light of sunset. Completion of this project is expected before Christmas.
On the pricing front, Christmas Island Lodge will now offer one-on-one guiding as part of the standard package (the only lodge on the island to do so). So each angler will now have an individual guide for the duration of their stay. This is in addition to private room accommodation, complimentary Starlink wifi, daily laundry service, an updated menu offering three daily meals (plus appetisers including fresh sushi, ceviche and empanadas baked in the new outdoor Argentinian oven), bottled water, sodas, beer and wine, fishing license departure tax and 12.5% VAT. The standard package for 2024 is priced at US$4,950 per guest.
There are also two additional packages for guests wanting to share this world-class angling destination with friends or family. The two-on-one private accommodation package (shared guide/private room) will be offered at US$4,250 per guest. The two-on-one double occupancy package (shared guide/shared room) will be offered at Us$3,650 per guest.
