Below is the final report from Alphonse for the 2013/2014 season so enjoy the read and if you haven’t already booked your space, please don’t wait too long as space on Alphonse is filling fast.
The last 2 weeks of the Alphonse season have just ended and true to form the South-Easterly winds turned up just enough to cool the water on the flats and then disappeared. The season continue to run later each year and the cooler water entices an amazing influx of bonefish, triggerfish and permit to areas that would normally be too warm. The staggering amount of big bones tailing up in the shallows allowed our anglers some of the best bonefishing for the season. The great thing about this time of year is that on a falling tide the water remains cool and the fish hang about for long periods in the really skinny water, which makes the fishing sessions for tailing singles and doubles last for hours. The late influx of milkfish only arrived on last day of the season to bid farewell to all the clients and guides. Numerous fish were hooked from terra firma, with Graham Moon being the only angler to hang on and land his first ever milkfish.
