Tailored packages in world class fisheries
Gaspé Coastal Experience will tailor six night, five day packages designed to suit anglers of all skill levels. If you are prepared to arrive at Gaspé with an open mind, then you can take advantage of the best performing fishery to get the most out of a trip. The beauty of Gaspé is that it offers three distinctly different fisheries that all perform differently through the summer and the myriad weather conditions you find here. Atlantic salmon provide challenge and adventure in unspoiled river environments, sight fishing to small groups or hundreds of schooled striped bass is an experience known by only a few, while native sea-run brook trout will take you deep into the backcountry exploring remote stretches of water far off the beaten path. Seasoned guides will offer expert tips and best techniques to enjoy productive days on the water.
Atlantic salmon are generally fished from a boat, with anglers floating from pool to pool in a canoe navigated by your guide. Most fishing is conducted on the Grand Cascapedia, Petite Cascapedia and Bonaventure Rivers and you can expect to spend about eight hours on the water. Striped bass are generally targeted from poled skiffs with anglers taking turns to cast from the bow. When conditions permit it is also possible to walk and wade. Early in the season anglers can expect to see tailing and blitzing fish as the striped bass feed actively, as the season progresses the chance to encounter large schools of flashing fish allows for incredible sight fishing opportunities. The ability to get out onto the ocean is weather dependant so be prepared for the occasional change of plan. If sea-run brook trout are on the agenda then you’ll head into the backcountry, exploring remote stretches of water off the beaten path. It’s not for the faint hearted but the effort is well worth it with many anglers likening it to the wild pristine fishing found in New Zealand. You can wade the rugged terrain or fish from a canoe and should expect to spend a full day on the water fishing for these vibrant, hard-fighting trout.
