Santiago del Estero Lodge
High volume dove and pigeon shooting
Santiago del Estero Lodge offers some of the very best high-volume dove shooting in Argentina, combining short drives with superb accommodation and service.
Compelling venue with constant action
The unspoiled landscape takes the form of a semi tropical plain, with trees of mixed heights, field edges and fence lines that provide perfect dove habitat. Guns take a position near an obstacle that forces the doves to move higher or around it. Santiago del Estero Lodge has been allocated a large zone over which it has exclusive hunting rights. This enables the lodge to manage resources by rotating different fly ways and minimising hunting pressure. Guns are assisted by bird boys who will load guns, replenish cartridges and help to make your day enjoyable. There is a phenomenal population of pigeon here too so it’s a perfect destination to combine both on one trip. Gun rental is available with a selection of over and under and semi-automatic shotguns.
Guns generally depart around 9am. The drives vary depending on season, but average around 15 to 30 minutes. Depending on time of year, you shoot until noon when you return to the lodge for an asado lunch and siesta. The afternoon shooting begins around 4.30pm and continues to between 6 and 7.30pm. On returning to the lodge there are cocktails and appetisers followed by dinner.
Superb, recently renovated Spanish-styled manse
The beautifully appointed lodge comprises 11 rooms and is ideal for groups of around 14 to 17 guests. There’s a large traditional dining room and comfortable bar. The recreation room offers a pool table, with sitting area and bar. There is a gun cleaning room and wine cellar. The swimming pool and seating area around the fire pit complete the facilities.
Lovely setting in the rural south
The lodge is in the south of Santiago del Estero province an unpressured rural area in northern Argentina. It is around 150 miles from Santiago del Estero airport which in turn is a 90-minute flight from Buenos Aires’ domestic airport.
