These multi-night wilderness camping trips targeting the elusive largemouth yellowfish are perfect for adventurous anglers seeking a pure, unspoiled environment and a deep connection with nature.

Anglers set off on the Kalahari Wilderness Drift along a pristine 35km section of the lower Orange River, winding through the breathtaking Onseepkans Gorge. It’s a stretch of water, surrounded by the untouched Kalahari desert that offers an unparalleled fly fishing experience.

The trips are designed to target the elusive largemouth yellowfish using custom-built drift boats, each accommodating two anglers and one expert guide. While the primary focus is on largemouth yellowfish, the smallmouth yellowfish population is also abundant, with impressive catches often made on streamers intended for largies.

Strict catch and release policies are practised, with single de-barbed hooks, preserving the river’s ecosystem. Each expedition is limited to just four rods, ensuring an exclusive and intimate experience.

The season runs from September to early November and with limited rod numbers, top-notch guiding, custom-built drift boats, and expert logistics, the annual Kalahari Wilderness Drift season has become a favourite among guides and guests alike.
