Pluma Lodge Fishing Report
Wet weather at the start of the week brought the river up and coloured the water. The watercolour was less of an issue, but the temperature was cold, which put the dorado off for a few days. As the weather warmed and water dropped, we saw the normal feeding frenzies and more active fish.
For the week, we landed six fish over 20 lbs in the main Pluma and several 15-lb. fish in the Sécure. The upper sections provided some excellent opportunities for sight fishing, and guest Jose landed his biggest fish in Itirizama on the last day.
Agua Negra Lodge Fishing Report
The past week brought all kinds of weather and fishing conditions to Agua Negra. After two days with significant rain and high water in all our rivers, the fishing turned on. The Agua Negra was full of fish, and the coloured water helped make the fishing especially memorable.
We landed many big dorado during the first few days and had many more chances that didn’t come to fruition. By the end of the week the water cleared, and the fishing was still excellent but more technical.
When all was said and done, we landed more than 20 large dorado and two pacú. The biggest fish of the week was a 22-lb. dorado caught on the lower Agua Negra.
Secure Lodge Fishing Report
The sixth week of the season brought heavy rains to Sécure for the first three days, causing the river to rise significantly and colour. Both air and water temperatures remained low throughout the week.
Our three Mexican guests fished the regular beats up and downstream and despite the challenging conditions, all three of the landed golden dorado ranging from 14 to 16 lbs. Unfortunately, the Pacú seemed dormant because of the cold water conditions.
