Turneffe Island Lodge is an island resort located about 2 ½ hours boat transfer from the coast of Belize. The lodge is very comfortable and along with the lodge rooms there are 8 private mahogany cabanas along the beach. It has a high level of service and good food along with a decked swimming pool. The fishing at Turneffe is mostly wading on hard coral flats for all major flats species. There are very good numbers of Permit out there, but we have noticed a drop off in tarpon numbers over the years. The bonefish are a good average size, but as it is fishing over turtle grass in skinny water the fishing can be challenging. As a combination option it can offer the best of both worlds. There are numerous non-fishing activities available on site including scuba diving and snorkelling.
