We have finally had confirmation of the space and prices for the Nes beats on the Laxá I Adaldal and are pleased to offer fishing right through the prime part of the season in July and August. Despite the previous poor years the Laxá I Adaldal had a good season last year and caught over 350 fish with the largest being 35lbs. There were a high proportion over 20 lbs, making it one of the few rivers in Iceland to produce large fish. In conjunction with the excellent lodging, top quality guiding and extraordinary food it adds a different dimension to our Icelandic portfolio.
A recent scientific study on the Nes beats revealed some fascinating facts regarding the parr density in the river. It not only explains the poor fishing in 2012 (very low par index in 2009), it also offers much encouragement for the coming years. The index in 2010, and this year’s fishing on the Nes beats reflects this improvement. By August 1st, the club had produced as many salmon as it did in the entire previous year. One group certainly experienced this, netting 21 salmon in three days of fishing and hooking nearly 20 more. Based on steady increases in the par index in 2011 and a tremendous bump in 2012 (highest in 10 years), one would expect that fishing on the Nes beats should be excellent in 2014 and 2015.
