If you want to experience truly remote reefs and Islands – we’re talking reefs here that have probably never seen a lure – then this is the trip for you. This will be an awesome adventure into the wilds of the Northern Great Barrier Reef and Eastern Torres Strait where you’ll visit places few people have ever been.
You’ll start your trip closer to Papua New Guinea than Australia, and then fish the most northern, most remote and isolated parts of the Great Barrier Reef, and then fish your way down the eastern edge of Cape York, fishing islands, reefs and river systems that redefine the word wild!
This is the first time this trip has ever run, and it is a seriously exciting prospect for us. We can only do this trip one time per year, and it’s going to be something special. The time of year chosen will see hot weather, hot fishing and very light winds – at least if you believe the weather bureau statistics! December is typically the time of very light winds and hot weather in this part of the world, and that usually means red hot fishing!
Travelling from Masig Island in the Torres Strait, you will head out East to the outer Great Barrier Reef, and then fish your way south along the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, chasing GTs, coral trout, red bass, maori wrasse, dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, sailfish and every other reef species you can imagine.
After you have calmed down to a mild panic from the previous days of chaotic action, you will do an overnight steam and head further down the Reef. The options are endless for the final few days, either fishing on the outer edge of the reef, or around the islands, headlands and river systems of Shelburne Bay, Margaret Bay or maybe fish the Olive and Pascoe Rivers for barra, jacks and fingermark. The final few days will be totally determined by what the group onboard wants to do, but the options are only limited by your imagination. More crazy offshore reef action, or some awesome light tackle action in closer to the coast? Hmmm tough choice!
This trip will offer all the species, all the fishing styles, and all the action you can handle. With six full days of fishing mayhem, you can literally name a species of northern saltwater fish, and you have a chance of catching it on this trip. Dogtooth tuna to permit, GTs, barramundi, golden trevally, bluefin trevally, triggerfish, coral trout, wahoo, yellowfin tuna, spanish mackerel, maori wrasse, longtail tuna, tarpon and literally every other northern saltwater sportfish you can name will be on the angling menu on one day or another. The Torres Strait and Northern GBR Adventure will utilise an 80ft Mothership, two guided 18ft centre consoles and two guided 25ft centre consoles. The trip caters for a maximum of 12 anglers, with all anglers rotating between the boats during the trip.
Cost will be AUS$6,950 per rod excluding flights and transfers. For more information or to make a booking please contact us or call+44 (0) 1980 847 389.
