This wonderful video perfectly encapsulates the agony and ecstasy of fly fishing for permit. It follows Missoula-based fishing guide, Kurt Long, on his mission to catch one of these famously spooky fish. It’s been a long quest, with multiple unsuccessful visits to prime permit destinations in Mexico and Belize, but finally, he accomplishes his goal, catching his first permit on his 34th day targeting these elusive fish.
The film highlights the intrigue, for many, the addiction of fly fishing for permit. The guides of Blue Horizon Lodge lay the foundation of what fly fishing for permit is all about. Then Kurt shares his story of challenge and eventual triumph.
